Director FAQs

What happens to my Bounce Back Loan if the company is liquidated?

Bounce Back Loans were made to the company, and most carry no personal guarantee. In a liquidation the loan is generally treated as an unsecured company debt. Lenders may investigate how funds were used, so we'll review your circumstances honestly during your free consultation.

Will I be personally liable for the company's debts?

Limited companies are separate legal entities, so directors are not usually liable for company debts unless they signed personal guarantees or there's evidence of wrongful trading or misconduct. Acting promptly and taking licensed advice is the best way to protect yourself.

What happens to HMRC debt?

HMRC becomes a creditor in the liquidation and deals with the liquidator rather than you. Outstanding VAT, PAYE and Corporation Tax are handled within the process and HMRC's enforcement action against the company stops.

How much does liquidation cost?

Costs depend on the company's size and circumstances. In many cases fees can be paid from company assets, meaning low or zero upfront personal cost. Use our instant quote tool or call us for a fixed, transparent quote.
